P/T DIRECTOR OF NEW WORSHIPING COMMUNITIES (IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CYCLICAL)
Hudson River Presbytery is looking for a leader (Part-Time 20 hrs) who will cultivate a culture of innovation and support around new worshiping communities (NWCs). As we look ahead to the changing church landscape we are putting time, energy and money into new ways of living out our call as the church. We are seeking someone who can spearhead this effort as the coordinator and cultivator for emerging NWCs in the Presbytery. This leadership role would work closely with Cyclical (an organization devoted to nurturing NWCs), with the primary job of identifying/gathering church starters and discerners. The incumbent will shape larger conversations in the Presbytery and sit down with individuals forming a NWC to discern goals and practical paths forward. This involves close collaboration with NWC’s to build and evolve the necessary structures that work for them and will support growth.
NURTURING THE DEVELOPMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY OF HUDSON RIVER PRESBYTERY NEW WORSHIPPING COMMUNITIES (NWC)
- Work with Cyclical, facilitate plans & systems for finding, gathering, assessing and training potential leaders of NWC
- Help implement a structure for nurturing and guiding NWCs in grants/funding and accountability (in collaboration with NWC team and HRP)
- Facilitate coaching for leaders of NWC
- Create protocols for dissolving NWC
- Encourage the imagination and the theological importance of starting NWCs within particular churches in HRP
- Develop and grow a sustainable budget for NWCs
- Be the primary communicator for NWCs in HRP, including Presbytery meetings, regular PresbyNews articles, videos, etc.
- Work in partnership with the NWC Team of HRP
- Work in collaboration with other Cyclical Networks and judicatories
- Regular communication with Cyclical staff
- Participate in Cyclical training, protocols and events
- Experience and knowledge of PC(USA) polity and its NWC resources and protocols
- Commitment to theology, polity and mission of Hudson River Presbytery; PC(USA) Teaching or Ruling Elder a plus
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in NWC or church planting
- Demonstrating success with diverse and inclusive communities as well as assimilating various points of view to productive results respecting individual differences
- Optimism and attitude of openness and ability to communicate the vision of NWC
- Willing and able to be a connector and conversation starter who can build a network of relationships
