Who are we: First Presbyterian Church of Trenton, New Jersey is a congregation of Christians seeking to connect to our neighbors and to find more ways to build a community that is inclusive and welcomes all. We seek to support programs that will enhance the community, provide needed services, and restore a sense of humanity to those who have been overlooked and marginalized.
What we seek: We are seeking an experienced person who understands communities of color, and those who are living with just enough or less than enough, and at least three years of experience working in some capacity in an urban area. As First Presbyterian Church of Trenton, New Jersey seeks to build a stronger capacity with the downtown Trenton community, we hope to find more sustainable and meaningful ways to connect to our neighbors and beyond. We want to live into our mission of service, compassion, and creating change.
Overview:
This position will fulfill a crucial role at FPCT by engaging with the community, providing pastoral support, and delivering spiritual guidance on a part-time basis. This position is a part-time position that anticipates 20-25 hours per week. The contract will begin on XXXXXXX, and will end on December 31, 2025.
Responsibilities of the pastor:
The pastor will be responsible for:
● Moderate the session and congregational meetings
● Prepare and lead worship and preach at regular Sunday services
● Officiate the sacraments
● Provide pastoral care
● Provide administrative leadership
● Officiate at weddings and funerals
Responsibilities of the congregation and Session are as follows:
1) Support the pastor in his/her ministry
2) Provide regular financial compensation according to the terms outlined below
3) Provide a performance review to the pastor at least annually
4) Pray for the pastor during this contract period
5) Negotiate goals for contract period

Compensation and Other Benefits: This position offers a robust starting salary. We are willing to offer more for an employee who can demonstrate other skills that are beneficial to this position. Benefits are in accordance with Presbytery standards. We offer 12 paid sick days. We also provide two weeks of paid vacation.
